FREE ENTRY AT THE FAN MUSEUM WITH YOUR LONDON PASS!
You would like to visit a museum of a special kind? Don't hesitate and visit the Fan Museum and benefit of your London Pass!
The Fan Museum is another great example of the originality of London museums. The museum is set in two grade II listed buildings dating from the 1720s that have been carefully restored to their original grandeur in order to exhibit these wonderful items in suitably lavish surroundings.
The museum details the history and social context of each of its fan collections taking into account the pieces in terms of both status and practical uses. Used for purposes of ceremony and simply to accessorise, the function of the fan has changed many times throughout history.
The pieces on permanent display are intricate and beautiful works of craftsmanship – you can learn how such artifacts were crafted according to the time period and even enjoy a walk around the tranquil Japanese Garden afterwards. This Greenwich Museum also contains a permanent collection of 3,500 fans and the superb Hélène Alexander collection. Greenwich is rich of museums, galleries, parks and palaces and has for any visitor something to offer!
Just one of many unique Greenwich attractions, this London museum provide enough interest for a day of learning or as part of a day in this World Heritage Site in the centre of London.
